Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral Palsy is the most common disability related to mobility affecting children. According to the CDC, cerebral palsy “is caused by abnormal brain development or damage to the developing brain” before birth. Though the symptoms are different in each person, cerebral palsy generally affects a person’s posture and balance as well as their ability to move. Other symptoms of Cerebral Palsy may include an inability to focus the eyes, an unsteady gait, difficulty swallowing, and uncontrolled movements. The severity of symptoms also differs from person to person. Some people with Cerebral Palsy are able to walk without assistance, while others may not be able to walk at all. Children usually show signs of Cerebral Palsy while they are infants or by the time they reach their preschool years
